Dr Sally Robinson-Kooi EALD & Literacy Consultant

Sally has extensive teaching experience in diverse literacy settings across the primary, TAFE and university sectors. She supports schools to implement Explicit Instruction methods to optimise spelling, reading, and writing outcomes for students of diverse abilities.

PD: A 9-hour NSW NESA Accredited PD course: Teaching EALD in the Mainstream: Assess, plan and implement the EALD learning progression.

• building knowledge of student second language development,
• identifying common issues EALD students face learning a new language,
• using scientific, evidence-based instructional approaches for EALD students.

PD: Mainstream literacy

• providing structured literacy development in phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency,
• developing knowledge of high quality Explicit Instruction techniques that build on previous learning in a cumulative sequence,
• providing collaborative instructional coaching, programming, and lesson planning.
